Lately, I have watched the astonishment of others with a certain perplexity. The human community —those surrounding me, or rather, those inhabiting the same planet— seems scandalized by the therian phenomenon. They are indignant because certain individuals feel outside the species, perceiving themselves as a dog, a cat, or any other creature.
To my mind, the truly strange thing is that there aren't more people attempting to desert. The logical choice would be wanting to be a loaf of bread, a Porsche Cayenne, or a bouquet of flowers. Anything rather than being part of this «humanity».
In my case, the exit was a meditated and conscious act. I decided to abandon the species many years ago. This is why the therian phenomenon does not surprise me, it feels familiar.
During my flight, I wondered what I had become. I wasn't an alien, I didn't come from the outside. I had been manufactured right here on Earth, albeit with clearly defective components and deficient assembly. I understood then that I was a cybernetic aberration. In fact, shortly after accepting this, I ran for Mayor of Madrid as an android on the Pirate Party lists.
Welcome, therians, aliens, and androids, to my uncertain nebula. Enjoy.
